Fat Talk, Freedom, & "Full" Giveaway

Hey Friends :)

If you've spent anytime around *She Sparkles*, you know I am passionate about living Fat Talk Free.

Please know....I am so NOT perfect in this area nor have I somehow "arrived".

Truth be told, my friends still call me out on this occassionally. If I let even one "Do these pants make my butt look big?" comment slip...they are on me like fleas (as they should be)!

After years of struggling with an eating disorder, stinkin' thinkin', nearly losing my life, and most recently having to take my young daughter to the doctor due to her "not wanting to be fat" ....I have made a personal promise to be part of the SOLUTION to the epidemic of Fat Talk.

I also get fired up when I meet other women who have committed to living a life of freedom, wholeness, and Truth in the whole body image/food area.

A few months ago, I came across a spacious place, an inspiring, authentic blog written by Kendal. I love it! I soon learned Kendal has been set free from anorexia, and shares her amazing journey in her book Full.

Kendal shares "Full" is "about losing myself to anorexia and filling up again with Jesus and health. My deepest desire is that this book will help someone understand the eating disordered mind."

Here's an excerpt from "Full" by Kendal Privette

(ED refers to "Eating Disorder", and the numbers are her weight)

ED Speaks
127
It's too much.
Ed speaks.
I didn't know listening was a pact.

Page 2
127
ed sidles up,
hissing in my ear.
sweet talking,
two pounds,
he whispers...

Page 4
Psalm 139:14
126
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Your works are wonderful I know that full well
total crap
I am ugly
I have a lumpy waist
stringy hair
uneven complexion
beady eyes
I am a mistake

And on and on the book goes, as we watch this 127 pound mother of two, spiral down to 98 pounds....and then....., well, I'll let you read the book :)

Or listen to Kendal reading from her book "Full". Powerful stuff! :)

When I first received "Full", I could absolutely not put it down! Every girlfriend that came to visit sat with me as we read from Kendal's personal journey. If you know anyone who has been impacted by anorexia/eating disorders, I would highly recommend this book. It paints a picture of the trapped mind, as well as fills the reader with hope (as we watch Kendal come back to health and victory!) Woo Hoo!!

At my request, Kendal has graciously offered to share her book "Full" with a blessed *She Sparkles* friend! (Thank you, dear Kendal!)

Hi Cindy .. it is an important awareness concept that we need to be reminded of - as so many people seem to get drawn into it ..

I was on holiday as a youngster with someone who had had anorexia .. she had come out of it - just and was still microscopic .. skinny - but stronger in her mind. I had no idea about the awful effects it had on her - but just having her in my mind's eye - brings back the knowledge.

Something we should be aware of .. disorders of all sorts are very difficult to understand ..

I hope many will watch Kendal's presentation and read her book .. they will be so important to so many ...

All the best Hilary

Although I've never struggled with ED, I think this is an important topic and am so glad to see women walking in freedom! Thanks for sharing this Cindy!

Oh wow...what a topic. First, a dear friend struggled with anorexia and bulimia. While she is now a happy, healthy mom of 2, I still sometimes don't know what to say to her. I also want to know a little more about what goes on in the mind so I know how to better help people with eating disorders.

I would love this book because worrying about image is something I have struggled with my whole life. It's so ridiculous bc it really is selfish and keeps me from loving others well, but it is the area that satan always comes back to to try and distract me. I feel like I get "control" for seasons, and then I spiral back into obsessing and condemning myself for "not looking good enough." I hate it. I hate the battle. And I try myself not to talk about it to others bc I don't want to be another influence who makes others feel like its SO IMPORTANT, or part of their value. Yet, the dumb skipping record plays in my head.
I would love to hear Kendal's journey to VICTORY!
ps. I follow your blog, I follow you on twitter, and I am posting this on fb!

Hi,

I have a inquiry for the webmaster/admin here at www.cindybultema.blogspot.com.

May I use part of the information from this blog post right above if I give a link back to your site?

Thanks,
Charlie

I wish I could say I don't have personal experience with "ED", but I do. My best friend also has dealt with stupid "ED" and God brought us together to kick the lie that we were "too fat". 5 years later we both LOVE the bodies God gave us and work hard to be healthy, NOT obsessed with weight and size.

Sadly, we have a mutual friend going through "ED" right now, even though she doesn't recognize it. I would love to win this book for her and love on her through it.

Thanks so much!

P.S. I follow your blog :)
