Thank you so much for helping me get through my Frustrated Friday yesterday! You are the greatest bloggy friends ever, and your words of encouragement blessed me more than you know (especially when my computer crashed later in the day ~ AHHH!). Thanks for being a bright spot in my crazy day!
Today we continue a 10 day *She Sparkles* 1st Anniversary CELEBRATION with giveaways of my favorite things! Woo Hoo!!
We kicked off the Celebration with a Starbucks giveaway! And for today, I have 2 amazing music packages to giveaway!! I'll tell you more at the end of the post!!
But first, I'm wondering...do you have "a song?"? You know, one of those songs that instantly takes you back to significant places along your walk with God??
For me, "my song" is Shout to the Lord by Darlene Zscehch.
I heard Shout to the Lord for the very first time in 1997. I was a brand new baby Christian, and someone gave me the Shout to the Lord CD. (It was my first Christian CD ever). I listened to it over and over and over again.
The first time I shared my testimony (March 1, 1998 at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids) ~ guess what song the worship leader introduced to the congregation? Yep, Shout to the Lord. I shared my story at 4 services that morning, and heard "my song" 4 times as well.
My Jesus, My Savior,
Lord, there is none like You;
All of my days
I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.
In fact, I loved the song so much that I told my fiance David Timmer that we had to have someone sing it at our wedding. The words were so perfect for me! God had taken me out of such a pit of rebellion and sin, and given me a new, firm place to stand. A new song to sing! I was no longer going to be a single mom ~ but would be married to a Godly man and we could build a special family together. I couldn't stop singing these words...
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands,
Forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand,
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
David and I made plans to have someone sing Shout to the Lord at our wedding on May 1, 1999.
And when David was killed on December 10, 1998, just 2 weeks before Christmas and 5 months before our wedding ~ I vowed that I never wanted to hear that song again. Ever.
And yet, as we planned David's funeral....I knew what special music we needed to sing. My favorite soloist came to David's funeral and we all cried through Shout to the Lord together.
My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength;
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You.
Fast forward a number of years, after God brought much healing came to my broken heart....
As John and I were planning our wedding, we knew what song we needed to sing. Our favorite soloist came once again, and together, at our wedding on August 5, 2000 ~ we lifted our voices and praised Him through song with Shout to the Lord.
I sing for joy at the works of Your hands,
Forever I'll love You, Forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have
In You

What a great song Cindy. I know the song that makes me have a AHA moment in my walk is Welcome Home by Shaun Groves. It reminds me where I have been and where I want to be.
PS I forgot to say that I have the She Sparkles button on my blog.
I have your button on my blog :)
I follow :)
I loved reading about your favorite song. My favorite is "My Desire" by Jeremy Camp. I always love singing it to God.
BLessings,
Amy
Your button is on my blog!
I follow in Google Reader!
I love Shout To The Lord! The song that ministers to me the most these days is "How He Loves". Kim Walker and David Crowder both have versions. When I hear the song I am instantly reminded of the depth of God's love for me!
Cindy,
I don't want to be entered in your giveaway (someone else can have it), BUT I just want to tell you that you gave me a tape (yes tape) of Shout to the Lord right before I moved to Hong Kong. I listened to it hundreds of times while I set up my classroom and worked late hours. I loved living in Asia but DID NOT love teaching. That music helped me (well, God helped me) get through many hard days. I remember you telling me how special it was to you. How you listened while on your treadmill looking at an image of Jesus (right?). Okay, I love ya and am proud of you. Maybe this was too much info for a comment. Oh well!!
My favorite song is "My Redeemer is Faithful and True" by Steven Curtis Chapman. His songs have touched me more than any other but this song particulalry says it all.
Lyrics: "As I look back on the road I've traveled, I see so many times He carried me through, And if there is one thing that I have learned in my life, my Redeemer is faithful and true. My Redeemer is faithful and true , everything He has said He will do, and every morning His mercies are new. My Redeemer is faithful and true. My heart rejoices when I read the the promise, There is a place I am preparing for you, I know someday I'll see my Lord face to face, Cause my Redeemer is faithful and true. And in every situation He has proved His love to me, when I lack the understanding He gives more grace to me, My Redeemer is faithful and true, everything He has said He will do, and every morning His mercies are new, My Redeemer is faithful and true."
As you know I am a big fan of music and song. One of my favorite songs to play and sing would be the old hymn "Great is Thy Faithfulness" The part that strikes me is most is the part that say's "all that I have needed your hand hath provided" I guess I feel a comfort knowing that God is with me at all times and is providing for my needs. Great is his Faithfullness :)
"What Grace Is Mine" by the Gettys! The words say it all..."I bow my hear, take up my cross and follow Him"
Hello just an FYI I added you to my blog that I made today and you are my facebook friend.

Blessed Be the Name of the Lord has been a very powerful song on my Faith journey. As you know, I have endured many health problems, surgeries, and hospitalizations through the years. During these hard health times, this song has truly brought healing on all levels. The words remind me that sometimes "the land is plentiful and sometimes the the road is marked with suffering" However, the words of this song remind me that I have a CHOICE of what my heart will say. It encourages and challenges me that no matter what road I am on, I have a choice on how to respond. Will my heart choose to Bless His name? This is so easy in the Joy Seasons of my life. However, it is this song that reminds me that my heart can still chose to say " Blessed be the Name of the Lord" when I feel in a desert place. I have such vivid memories of raising my hand with tear stained eyes singing these powerful words. These precious moments in the desert place have truly brought me not only physical healing but SOUL healing.
