Where's the line to see Jesus??

If you haven't had a chance to enter my Bittersweet giveaway (an amazing book by my friend/author Shauna Niequist), it's not too late! You have until Sunday, December 5th to enter! Join the fun! :)

Hey Friends!

Happy Weekend to you! My husband John and I have such a GREAT weekend planned! I can't wait to tell you all about it ~ but it'll have to wait until next week. (Sorry, Heather, I know how much you "don't like" my cliff hangers!)

I'll give you some clues though...it is part of John's 40th birthday celebration, and will include confetti, luggage, college friends, perhaps a library and Starbucks.

Any guesses??

In the mean time, I'll leave you with this amazing, powerful song and video...."Where's the Line to See Jesus?".

It is just what my weary, frazzled, "had sick kids for one too many days", worn-out soul needed this evening. I pray it blesses you as well. :)

(If you heard the song/saw the video last year, this is a new, updated version. Enjoy!)

Don't you just love the lyrics...

Where's the line to see Jesus?
Is He here at the store?
If Christmas time is His birthday
Why don't we see Him more?

Where's the line to see Jesus?
He was born for me
Santa Claus brought me presents
But Christ gave His life for me

Amen! :)

I'm curious...how do you and your family keep Christ in Christmas??

John and I are very intentional about trying to minimize the focus on "gifts", but instead focus on The Gift (but after seeing our kids' Christmas list ~ made up of TV's, Ipods, & American Girl doll stuff galore) ~ we're re-evaluating! :)

What have you found works to keep your month of December focused on what (and Who) really matters??

Have do you stay "frazzle free" this time of year??

Share with us please! I'd love to hear from you!

And may the Lord empower all of us to say NO to the many distractions (that seek to pull us every way but Up), so that we might experience His peace and His joy in new, fresh, powerful ways this holiday season.

Merry CHRISTmas! Have a wonderful, refreshing, life-giving weekend!

P.S. If you have a minute, visit the Where's the line to see Jesus? website. I think you'll be blessed to hear the story of how this song/video was created. I also loved reading how God is using these lyrics to impact lives all around the country. Isn't God awesome??

Hi! Cindy, I just heard this song a couple of days ago! Wow~ it is awesome! and very "get into the heart" feeling! Love It! And I am into constantly telling my Grands that Christmas is the Celebration of our Lord and Savior, but not just on Christmas but everyday we are to celebrate Him. It sounds like you are going to have a Happy:)week-end, so today Love and Blessings to you!

Hi Cindy,
After one of our friends posted this on Facebook, we adapted it to our toddlers and started ourselves: a Good Deeds jar to move focus to helping others and giving. Using a canning jar, cut out 24 strips of paper. Write a good deed on each strip of paper, fold it in half, and place it in the jar. Beginning 12/1, each child can draw one paper out of his/her jar. Each child has until dinnertime to complete the good deed. Have children share their deed at the dinner table. When the deed is completed, the strips of paper go into a special box under the tree and is left for Santa. Some examples: "read to someone", "hug someone in your family", "pick something up off of the floor and put it away", "say a prayer for someone". Older kids can "write a thank you note to someone who has done something nice for you lately", "pack up books/clothing/food items to give to donate", " arrange to stay after school for 30 minutes to help your teacher"...etc. I copied the link and posted it on my Facebook, but another place was www.associatedcontent.com

I love this song. And I totally agree that we need to focus on Jesus...the true meaning of Christmas. Especially when children are in the home.
Have fun on your hubby's birthday...sounds like it will be interesting!

Loved it! From now on I'll ALWAYS think this when I see a Santa at the mall! Our kids are older, but we still must be intentional to resist the world's methods of celebrating Christmas. I read some great ideas on a blog called "Holy Experience" that I think you might like. Love to you, Jenny C.

It is such a struggle to take the focus off presents and on to Christ! Our kids get 3 presents each, like Jesus did. They get something special to them or of value which represents the gold, they get something for their mind which represents the incense, and something for their body which represents the myrrh. They are still young, but my hope is that the gift will remind them of the reason for the season. This also made shopping very easy, they don't do a christmas list, we make the decisions. Of course it's still things they'll love. For their "special" gift, a camera, for their mind gift they're getting a mosaic by number (they love crafty stuff) and for their body gift they're getting cooking aprons and a cookbook, they love to help me in the kitchen. This year they both are getting the same thing, but that's not always the case.
I read the Holy Experience blog as well, it's great. Her family is 10 yrs w/out gifts... I love it!

I just heard this song this morning and oh, my goodness, how touching! I posted it on my FB Status and have gotten a bazillion comments about it.

We always had a birthday party for Jesus with our children growing up on Christmas Eve. This year we will begin that tradition with our Grans. I have a small manager with a baby in it that sits beneath our tree all the time. And, this year we've determinded to cut back on the gifts. It's just so easy to allow the world to creep in to Christmas.

Always enjoy stopping by and can't wait to hear about your week-end.

If more people focus on Christ in CHRISTmas, instead of the gift giving, they won't be as stressed or pressured to give a gift. My husband (Larry) and I try to instill that in our children. Also, my church, stresses the same thing from the youngest to oldest. Thanks for sharing!!!
